A cross-border territory at the crossroads of two cultures!

Pau, Bearn, the Basque Country and more generally the Atlantic Pyrenees are cross-border territories, at the crossroads of two countries, two cultures, two languages. The border is no longer a closure, but rather an area of understanding, exchange and cooperation.

This link, anchored in the city’s past, is today symbolized by the Parliament of Navarre. The Palace of Justice was built at the request of Henri de Navarre, the future Henri IV, a descendant of the Spanish kings. In 1620, it became the Court of Justice of Navarre and Béarn. After the Revolution, it remained a court of justice until 1856.

Today it is used by the Council of the Atlantic Pyrenees which is an institutional partner of the European program of cross-border cooperation between France and Spain!
